BASP classification

A pattern hair loss classification system designed for both men and women.

BASP stands for Basic and Specific classification. It is a system for describing pattern hair loss using a basic pattern and additional specific features. Unlike scales that mainly focus on male vertex loss or female central thinning, BASP was designed as a more universal framework for both sexes. It can help clinicians describe hairline recession, crown involvement and other pattern features more precisely, although many patients are more familiar with the Norwood or Ludwig scales.
