Consistent clinical photographs used to track hair loss or treatment response over time.
Standardised scalp photography uses the same angles, lighting, hair positioning and distance at each visit. This helps reduce the misleading effect of different hairstyles, wetness, lighting and camera settings. It is especially useful for androgenetic alopecia, female pattern hair loss and hair transplant planning, where change is gradual. Photographs should be interpreted alongside symptoms, examination and objective measures because visual density can vary with hair length, colour contrast and styling.
