Ritlecitinib

An oral JAK3/TEC inhibitor licensed for severe alopecia areata in people aged 12 and over.

Ritlecitinib is a once-daily capsule used for severe alopecia areata. It works by blocking immune signalling pathways involved in follicle inflammation. In England and Wales, NICE recommends ritlecitinib as an option for severe alopecia areata in people aged 12 years and over, within its marketing authorisation. It is not a treatment for ordinary male or female pattern hair loss. Like other immune-modulating medicines, it requires appropriate selection, counselling and monitoring for side effects.
