Hair Transplantation

Hair transplant shock loss

Temporary shedding of existing or transplanted hairs after hair restoration surgery.

Shock loss refers to shedding after a hair transplant, usually from surgical stress, inflammation or disruption of the hair cycle. It can affect transplanted graft hairs as they enter a resting phase, and sometimes existing miniaturised hairs near the recipient area. Transplanted follicles usually regrow after several months if they survived, but weak native hairs lost through shock may not always return. Good planning, gentle technique and medical stabilisation of pattern hair loss can reduce risk.
