Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF)

A blood-derived injectable treatment related to PRP, designed to release growth factors gradually.

Platelet-rich fibrin is prepared from a patient’s own blood and contains platelets within a fibrin matrix. It is promoted as a longer-release alternative or adjunct to platelet-rich plasma. In hair loss, PRF is mainly discussed for androgenetic alopecia and post-transplant support, but protocols and evidence quality vary. It should not be described as a proven replacement for established medical treatments. The key questions are patient selection, preparation method, injection schedule, measurable outcomes and cost.
